We, at Texas Tactical Training Group, believe in a real life approach to training. It is not enough to learn how to shoot holes in paper. We believe that “perfect” practice makes perfect. So, we must train for real life. We are dedicated to providing a quality, safe, and professional training environment to every student. We can help any level of shooter from beginner to experienced.

Texas Tactical Training Group is a tactical shooting range and training facility for all levels. We offer training to civilians, private security, police, and many government agencies. We also offer Platinum memberships for access to ranges every day of the year.

Texas Tactical Training Group is proud to be the home of Sheepdog Defense Group (B19070). Sheepdog Defense Group is a professional church security group utilizing volunteers to guard their flocks. We also host Sheepdog Academy (F01352), which is a state recognized private security training school and continued education school. All of our instructors are state certified.

We are also an FFL location and sell firearms and accept transfers. We will soon be a class 3 dealer as well.

Our Team

David Riggall

Owner / Trainer / Instructor / Range Safety Officer

David is the owner of Texas Tactical Training Group. David retired from the Fort Worth Police Department after over 17 years of service to further his businesses (Sheepdog Defense Group and Texas Tactical). He spent more than half of his time with the police department on a tactical team. He has trained new officers both in the field and at the training academy. He has had extensive training in response to active events such as active shooters or anti-terrorism training. He has had special training in shooting, hand to hand combat and attended multiple tactical schools. He has been involved in dynamic entries, barricaded persons, hostage rescue as well as fugitive manhunts and warrants. David is a TCOLE instructor, TCOLE firearms instructor and a range safety officer. He also currently holds certificates in SWAT, Advanced SWAT, Dynamic Entry, Licensed to Carry instructor, Simunitions instructor, Ballistic Shield instructor, Response to Suicide Bomb Attacks, Active Shooter Response and served on the Mobile Field Force and the Field Force Extraction team.

Thad Weikal

Range Director / Instructor / Trainer / Range Safety Officer

Thad Weikal is the Texas Tactical Range Director, a Texas Tactical Instructor, an NRA Certified Range Safety Officer, NRA Basic Pistol instructor, NRA Rifle Instructor, and a NRA Shotgun instructor.

He is the Sheepdog Defense Group Chaplain, a Sheepdog Defense Group Security Officer, and an ACPI- Certified School Security Specialist.

Thad holds a Texas Level 3 Security Officer Commission, a Texas Level 4 Personal Protection Officer Commission, he is a Texas Level 3 Security Officer Instructor, a Texas LTC Instructor, and a Texas ALERRT C.R.A.S.E. instructor.
He is the Security Team Director at Cornerstone Community Church in Springtown TX.

Thad is a 4-day defensive handgun graduate and a 2-day practical rifle graduate.
He is licensed to carry in Texas, Nevada, and Utah.

Thad is passionate about the God-given, natural born right to keep and bear arms; as well as teaching students to be confident and comfortable with firearms self-defense in a safe, effective, no-pressure environment.

Scott Waddell

Range manager / Range Safety Officer

Scott Waddell is a Texas Tactical Range Manager and an NRA Certified Range Safety Officer. He has hundreds of hours of training in weapons, tactics, and shooting. He is also a certified Glock Armorer.

Scott is a U.S. Army Veteran who served 3 years active service as a Military Police Officer. During his last six months of service, he was the company armorer and responsible for security and maintenance of hundreds of small arms weapons.

He is also a retired Deputy Sheriff from Loudoun County, Va. Where he served for 27 years in all areas of the Sheriffs Department with most of his time in Patrol. He worked his way up through the ranks to Major/ Division Commander. He is a graduate of the 215th session of the FBI National Academy.

Scott is also a Sheepdog Defense Group Security Officer and Security Team Lead at the North Fort Worth Baptist Church. He holds a Texas Level 3 Security Officer Commission and a Texas Level 4 Personal Protection Officer Commission.

Scott enjoys helping others safely learn and maintain their firearms proficiency and exercising their second amendment rights, so they can better protect themselves and family members.

Whit Reed

Range Safety Officer

Whit Reed Is an Armed Forces Veteran after serving 8 years with the U.S. Army’s 1st Division 2-16th Infantry Battalion. In his service to our country he served two tours in Operation Iraqi Freedom conducting multiple combat operations, and humanitarian service missions.

During peacetime he trained small/large groups of personnel in small arms use, ranging from fundamental marksmanship to advanced small arms tactics; and received qualifications for ballistic and dynamic breaching and long range marksman.”

Post service he serves in a myriad of roles as a Security Officer, Range Safety Officer, and Pistol Instructor.
